Cedar Heights BMX

So you want to be a BMXer.

In BMX Racing, all racers are matched by three classes; Novice, Intermediate, and Expert.

As a new member/ racer to BMX, you will be matched with your age and class to compete against. a 20", or class racer will start out as a novice, needing 8 first place wins to upgrade to intermediate class. After reaching intermediate class, 25 first place wins are needed to become an expert racer.  If there’s not enough to make a moto, then you will be bumped up to the next available age group of the same class. Rule books are available to new members or on the ABA's web site.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:

Helmet -Full face helmets are best, but any can be used.
Long sleeve shirts.
Long pants, no shorts allowed.
Any bike with 20” wheels or  smaller for class racing. Any bike with 24” wheels or larger for Cruiser racing.

We have several track bike for the public to use if anyone wants to try out the sport before getting in to it.

Sponsorships are available. Ask how to get sponsored.

The ABA has a one day, free membership, for one time trial racing.
We love to teach the nuts and bolts of BMX racing, and free classes will be held to ABA members.

Felt bikes, Chainwheel bikes, and Cedar Heights BMX will hold every month, free BMX clinics to teach all riders the techniques of BMX, the skills to control their bikes, and gain speed safely. Chainwheel bike shop will send it's own premier BMX racer, to hold the clinics. It's our goal to have fun in this sport, and we never want to see anyone get hurt simply because they just didn't know how to ride a BMX track.

All you need to get started is a $45.00 membership fee to the ABA for the whole year . This will include your first race with Trophy, insurance, and a subscription to the BMXer magazine. The BMXer magazine gives you all the information about upcoming races, and your standing in the point system. A second membership is $35.00.

Then at Cedar Heights BMX, to race you have a choice between a trophy @ $8.00, or a ribbon @ $5.00 per race.  As a member of the ABA you may race at any ABA sanctioned track anywhere, in any state, or at any series race. Series racing such as Nationals, State races, Redline Cup, and so on.
Do you, or your kids want to have great fun, and get into shape too?

How about build self esteem?

Lets not forget confidence in accomplishment.

Dangerous? Far less than being hit with a baseball, or a line backer. Do your kids ride on the street? Remember on a BMX track there are no cars speeding by.

A great aspect of BMX is that there is no obligation to be there all the time like in traditional team sports. Just show up on race days when you can make it, and have fun.

There is one thing to consider before you start, like anything in life you have to build your skills first. Skills are easy to learn.  Never Give up! The people you can't beat only make you  faster!!!

Now! The only thing left is to do, is Just Do It!
